Waiting for a Miracle
Waiting for a Miracle
A miracle that comes with layers of pain and suffering,
A miracle that is rife with horror.
A miracle that has us all waiting with bated breath:
Cautious optimism.
Stomach dropping, riding a rollercoaster ride I didn’t sign up for,
But one my DNA designed
The ancestors are with us in this liminal time of Sukkot:
Ushpizim accompanying us, standing beside us,
Timbrels and drums,
Filling the sacred womb holding us while we pace and hold our breath,
While we cry and hope and pray.
While we wonder why people don’t check on us or why they make light of the nails we are pacing upon.
Counting the hours, then the minutes, then the seconds…
Counting our breaths and heart beats tripping along the wires of pain and sorrow
Let us lean into relief in the waves of tears, the warmth of smiles, and hopeful cries to the Divine
Let healing ripple outward in soft and benevolent waves.
Let us remember that we are rooted in chesed, and rachamim, chochmah and gevurah, and threaded through our souls with tikkun.
Welcome home, beloveds, welcome home.
